St. John's Hospital
The applicant seeks to vertically expand the existing St. John’s Hospital, located at 1575 Beam Avenue, to provide cardiac cath capability to the facility adjacent to the surgery department on level 2. When designed, the existing facility structure was designed to accommodate vertical growth. The expansion would add approximately 21,000 SF to the existing 6-story, 303,000 SF facility. As a vertical expansion, there is no impact to the existing site design, utilities, or landscaping.

Honey Bear Meadery
Renovate existing the building (formerly Hillcrest Animal Hospital), to operate a meadery, where honey wines are produced and sold on the property. The applicant is proposing to have a portion of the building used for the manufacturing and production of the wine and a wine tasting room, where food and wine would be served for lunch and dinner.

Fast Food Restaurant
Raising Cane’s seeks to redevelop an existing parcel located at the northwest quadrant of the intersection of White Bear Avenue and Woodlyn Avenue. The site consist of an existing jewelry store and is northeast of the Maplewood Mall. The site has shared access with adjacent properties and underlying agreements with the adjacent Mall properties. The proposed redevelopment consists of demolishing the existing site and constructing a Raising Cane’s Restaurant, associated parking, landscaping, utilities, and stormwater management system. The restaurant is planned to open September of 2021.

The proposed project is for a future tenant at the Plaza 3000 North Annex shopping center, located at 2015 Woodlyn Ave E. The applicant is opening a dog day care with an outdoor recreational area as an ancillary use. The proposed outdoor recreational area consists of a 1000 sq. ft. artificial turf area enclosed by an 8-foot-high composite privacy fence. The outdoor area would be located at the rear of the tenant space which is currently consists of a parking lot. The fence and turf would extend approximately 20-feet away from the building to align with an existing door. A sunshade similar in color to the existing building is also proposed. The proposed outdoor area can be accessed directly from the interior of the tenant space. The outdoor area can also be accessed from the exterior via proposed swing gate. No asphalt will be altered or removed.

1744 County Road D East
The applicant is proposing a new four-story hotel with 126 rooms. The site would also have 126 parking spaces – meeting code minimum requirement. The hotel would be located on the last vacant parcel in the Legacy development project and would be located directly west of Ashley Furniture. The Legacy Planned Unit Development currently has this site approved as a strip retail center – the council would need to approve a revision to the PUD to allow a hotel on this site. The hotel building was designed to blend in with the nearby residential architecture. This building would have a pitched roof with asphalt shingles, the first floor would be covered with a brick facade and the remaining floors will be covered with lap siding. The lap siding would have three different colors.

The applicant is proposing improvements to Mapleridge Center at 2501 White Bear Ave. to allow for a new convenience store and gas station.

Menards is proposing replace its existing store with a updated single story prototype. They are also proposing to purchase and incorporate six residential properties to the south of the existing lot into the Menards site.

ISD 622 is proposing to remodel and expand John Glenn Middle School located at 1560 County Road B East.
