Demolition

The City of Maplewood requires a demolition permit (PDF) for the demolition or removal of a primary structure, garage or in-ground swimming pool.

Application Process for Demolition Permits

Contractors must be either state or city licensed.

Apply for the demolition permit with the City of Maplewood Building department and include proof of property ownership and photo of structure(s) to be demolished
Notify the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA): 800-657-3864

Notify and schedule a pre-demo inspection with Ramsey County; an asbestos survey may be required

Contact Public Works / Engineering: 651-249-2400. The following may be required:
- Grading permit
- Sanitary / Sewer Connection permit including inspection of the disconnect
- Right of Way permit
Contact the water department for approval of water disconnect, removal of meter and final bill payment

Once all the above has been approved and signed off, the Maplewood Building department will contact the applicant for payment
After payment is received the permit will be issued (includes a list of required inspections) and work can begin
