The Maplewood Police Department is committed to our Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer/Questioning (LGBTQ+) community’s equity and safety.
We have a LGBTQ+ Liaison Officer working to build trust in a number of ways, including more intentional outreach with LGBTQ+ community members, building internal awareness of LGBTQ+ issues, and participating in community events.
The LGBTQ+ Liaison Officer is available to help community members, businesses, and visitors in the following areas:
- Serve as a contact for questions or concerns between the Maplewood Police Department and the LGBTQ+ community.
- Direct outreach to the LGBTQ+ community, LGBTQ+ youth organizations, and businesses.
- Assist and advise Maplewood officers, detectives, and command staff on general training, laws, issues and cases involving members of the LGBTQ+ community.
- Collaborate with community leaders, schools, businesses, and residents to design and implement community safety programs for members of the LGBTQ+ community and youth.
