2026 Maplewood Street Improvements

Project Background:

This project consists of two project areas - The County Road C Area Streets and the Walter-Beam Area Streets. Typical improvements to the street include removal of existing street pavement, installation of aggregate base, replacement of frost susceptible and soft sub-grade soils, installation of new concrete curb and/or repair to existing, and installation of new asphalt pavement. Along with improvements to the street, upgrades to the storm sewer system, sanitary sewer system and water main system are also proposed as needed. All disturbed driveway areas will be restored with the same type of material as existing (concrete for concrete, asphalt for asphalt, etc.). Boulevard areas that are disturbed will be restored near the end of construction.

The City Council ordered the improvements following a Public Hearing on February 23, 2026. The project is currently under final design. The City anticipates awarding a construction contract in May 2026, with construction starting shortly thereafter.

Next Steps:

• February & March 2026 - Design of project 
• Late March 2026 - Plans sent out for bids from Contractors
• May 2026 - Bid Opening and Award of Contract
• Late May or Early June 2026 - Neighborhood Meeting #3 to discuss construction process
• June 2026 - Construction begins
