1946 English Street – Former Moose Lodge
In August 2022, the city applied for funding from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) to assist in demolishing the existing building and site improvements. The city expects to hear about the award of funding in September. The city is currently soliciting quotes for the demolition and expects demolition work to begin as early as this fall.
The city has received strong development interest in the property from developers. In the next couple of months, the city will be issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) to select a development partner. Additional information and timelines will be posted on this website when the RFP is released by the city.
1375 Frost Ave – Gladstone House
In 2021, the city issued a developer solicitation to redevelop the property. The City Council selected Beacon Interfaith Housing Collaborative to develop the project and signed a purchase agreement with Beacon in June 2022. Beacon proposes to demolish the existing building and construct a new 3-story multi-family residential building. The proposed building would consist of approximately 40 affordable housing units with a mix of 1, 2, 3 and 4 bedroom units.
Beacon has a proven track record of successfully funding and constructing similar projects in the Twin Cities region. Beacon has already been awarded funding from Ramsey County and is currently applying for additional funding from Minnesota Housing and the Metropolitan Council. Funding decisions will be awarded by the end of the year. Once financing is complete, the project is expected to commence in 2023.
