Chonburi Lee joined the Maplewood City Council in January 2023, and serves as council liaison to the Planning Commission and Community Design Review Board. Prior to being elected as councilmember, he served on the city’s Multicultural Advisory Committee (MAC).
“City leaders with multifaceted backgrounds and life experiences bring valuable perspective that enables the community to excel.” Chonburi says. “I believe diversity and inclusion should be integrated into all levels of city governance.”
Growing up in Saint Paul’s Frogtown neighborhood, Chonburi graduated from Arlington High School, and attended Hamline University, where he received a degree in communications. He holds an MBA from Metropolitan State University. Chonburi is an IT Project Manager by trade who has worked for Fortune 500 companies and has been a small business owner. He’s served on a number of committees that have advocated for small business support, development and expansion.
Chonburi’s vision is to elevate Maplewood into a city where families want their children to grow up, people want to retire, and where businesses can thrive.
