Melinda Coleman was appointed the City Manager of Maplewood in November of 2014. Prior to that, Melinda was the Assistant City Manager/Community Development Director in Maplewood from May, 1995 to May, 2006 and returned to the same position in August 2013. She has worked in Oklahoma for the Secretary of State and also the cities of Moore and Oklahoma City. She spent time in Minnesota working for the East Central Regional Development Commission in Mora and the Cities of Anoka and North Oaks.
Melinda has more than 35 years of public administration experience including local and state government. She also worked for Target Corporation in Real Estate/New Store Development for 4 years.
Melinda earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science and Urban and Regional Studies from Mankato State University and a Master of Arts degree in Regional and City Planning from the University of Oklahoma.
Melinda is involved in several professional organizations including International City/County Managers Association, League of Minnesota Cities, Minnesota City/County Managers Association, Municipal Legislative Commission, Metro Cities, St. Paul Chamber of Commerce, and White Bear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce.
