Southcrest-Ferndale Area Pavement Rehabilitation, City Project 20-09

About the Project:

The Southcrest-Ferndale Project is a pavement rehabilitation project scheduled for construction in 2021. This project includes the replacement of the failed street pavement, the spot replacement of severely deteriorated concrete curb and gutter, and minor upgrades to the underground utilities (sanitary sewer, storm sewer, watermain).

Project Status:

The feasibility study for this project was accepted by the Maplewood City Council in January of 2021. This report included information on the scope of the project, the cost of the improvements, methods for financing the improvements, and a preliminary project schedule. The City council awarded a construction contract to Northwest Asphalt, Inc. at the May 10, 2021 meeting. Construction on this project began the week of June 7, 2021.

Phase 1 of the project (streets south of Highwood Avenue) is well underway with spot replacement of curb completed, utility repairs completed, and the existing street pavement reclaimed. The first layer of pavement is scheduled to be installed the week of July 12th.

Utility work and spot curb replacement is scheduled to begin in Phase 2 of the project (streets north of Highwood) the week of July 12th. This work will take a couple of weeks to complete. The overall project is scheduled to be completed by September 17, 2021.
